Creating a category

The first step to creating content for your Knowledge Base is creating the category.

The category and sub-category are the groups to which articles are assigned based on similarity or defined criteria.

Press a "Create category" button on the right top corner of the Control Panel and you will see a modal window with generated "Title" and "Slug". You can change it if you want:

  1. Specify the "Title".
  2. Specify the "Slug" (it will be a part of the category URL).
  3. Leave the "Parent category" as is if you don't want to choose a parent category for a new one.
  4. Choose "Status".
  5. Press the "Save changes" button.

The category can have a few statuses

  1. "Draft" – only you will see it (better to use when you just start to create your KB).
  2. "Hidden" – the category will be hidden from a KB menu, but it will work as "Published". You can access it by direct link, it’s useful to send private links for review or something else.
  3. "Published" – the category will be available for all Knowledge Base visitors.

Creating a sub-category

For creating a sub-category, hover the existing category and you will see actions. Click to a "Add category" button.
